Why should you have great expectations from God?
Because He makes great promises which His level of integrity can sustain.
Abraham worshipped in astonishment as God revealed His plan to bless Sarah with a child at the age of ninety. Sarah laughed in unbelief at such a promise. Ninety years, no doubt, signals the end of the fertile phase of a woman’s life and the expectation of a child at that unproductive age is well beyond the grasp of science and commonsense. How wrong could she be?
In Genesis 21:1-2, “The Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.” (KJV)
The omniscience of God declared it; His omnipotence brought it to fulfillment.
When the Lord sent Gideon to go and liberate God’s people from the oppression of the Midianites, it was not with humility that Gideon declared, “”How can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh and I am the least in my family.” But here again God made a great promise, “I will be with you and you will strike down the Midianites
To Gideon, such a military onslaught in the camp of Israel’s second most dreaded enemy would be a suicide mission. But proceeding with the principles of divine decrease and utilizing the instrument of fear and manipulation, God caused the men throughout the camp of Midian to turn on each other with their swords. (Judges 7:1-25)

God still makes great promises but unless you connect to Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, those promises may never be realized in your life.
